Things going on in my life

I really need to update you all on my life. I wish I could tell you about all of it, but a girl has to keep some secrets. Be prepared this is going to be a long one.


1) I am on a four day trip to Kansas City for the Grand Council Midterm Meeting. I am the VP of Communications for Kappa Epsilon and even though it is volunteer, I really enjoy serving in this position. I get to creatively develop and edit our magazine, The Bond. I help develop and update our website. I do about three or four chapter visits every two years, which is not too bad of a travelling deal, even when you add on travelling for midterm and convention. I love the rest of the Grand Council and Nancy (the exec director). They are an eclectic group of pharmacists. Some have a better sense of humor than others but we get along well. We got so much done these past few days, but now the hard work starts with school starting up again soon.


2) Working in the Emergency Department A LOT. One of our ED pharmacists has been pregnancy leave and the other has a pretty tight schedule because of her family. That has left me working A LOT! Multiple days in a row (ex. 10!) with a day or two off and then back again with multiple days in a row. BUT the light of the end of the tunnel showed up on Monday...our new ED pharmacist! She just finished her two year residency at MUSC and she seems like good people. I will be working with her for 4 evening shifts this week to introduce her to everyone and get her used to the flow of the evening shift.

3) I have been being an inexcusable flirt lately. I have no idea why! Either I am feeling extra feisty or maybe I am trying to do something with my time now that residency is over, the first year getting used to the ED is over, and now I have my home. I know it is going to get me into trouble someday, but that's life right? I have to learn somehow. : )

4) The new house is frickin' amazing. I don't know if I made the best deal in the world getting this home, but I can't think of one that I saw that would make me happier. I still have a few things that need to get done before the big "House warming/Erin's B-day/Belated Graduation Celebration/Life is Good" party. First, I need to figure out how to use this damn sprinkler system. I don't know if it's not built correctly or I, as the operator, am retarded. There are three spots that just are getting browner and browner. Second, I need to so some cosmetic things to the upstairs bathroom. I need to retile about 4 floor tiles and I need to regrout the shower. I think. I am hoping my friend Nicole (See #7) will help me out, but her life if crazy right now. Between the two of us, we could not think of a day we had off at the same time. I also need to start getting the house pet proof (see #8). Other than that, it's just some rearranging, hanging pics and paintings, and buying furniture. Which, by the way, I just got this AWESOME wine sideboard...I cannot wait to see it when it comes in. I hope I am not disappointed.

5) Not only am I loving the new house, I have a great housemate: Crystal. For those of you who do not know Crystal yet, she is a pharmacist also, and we were in residency together. She took a job after residency and she is giving it a go for a year or so to see if she likes it enough to stay. There is not enough time for me to write about how great she is. She is shy and aggressive at the same time. She is a real pit bull for her patients. At the same time, we have a joke that all Crystal says on dates or around new people is, "Yes, No, Please, Thank You, and Pepsi". She puts up with my mood swings and anger issues. She is clean and quiet. My friends love her....how couldn't you?


6) I have a few friends/family coming to SLC soon. I cannot wait to show them the new house. So Aunt Jan, Nancy/Jim, and the KE ski crew....can't wait to see you! Maybe the most excited I am for a visitor is my friend, Ernesto, from Peru.


7) My friends who are leaving or have left. When I started in the emergency department the success we had with our practice was largely due to the people that worked there already. Orion, Jacob, Lani, Shay, Brad, Rachel, Jenni, and Nicole just to name a few. Well, now I have been in the ED for over a year and I am starting to see the crazy turn over the ED has. Orion. What can I say about this guy. He's funny, smart as the devil, and mischievous as the devil as well. I was seriously flirting with this guy, probably too much because I found out he had a girlfriend (After-the-fact). He moved onto medical school in Washington which he will train to become an amazing physician. I just don't think he realizes it yet. If he just keeps the goal in site, treats everyone the same as he does now, and remembers where he came from, he can't fail! Jacob is an interesting guy. He has had more different jobs in his life than I probably will ever have. On top of that, with him leaving for law school in Miami, I might have lost my best Democrat friend. Finally I found someone active in the party and he leaves! I am still bummed that I had not met him earlier. It's not like he was not there, it's just I cannot get to know everyone at the same time! Lani will be leaving in late September at the latest. I don't know what I am going to do without Lani on the week days. When she had her baby, I missed her then, but having her whole family leave soon makes me totally bummed. I was just getting good at entertaining her baby! Shay went to days and Brad went to 4's, so I don't see them as much as I'd like, but at least they have not left yet. Rachel left to go work home nursing (and transferred her black cloud to a new charge nurse). Jenni went to work dialysis. My Nicole got hired by AirMed. I cannot be prouder of her so I can possibly stand letting her go. We talk about what an amazing role model she is going to be for her daughter. We imagine her saying to her friends, "my mommie takes care of really sick people and rides in the helicopter to save them". She is a lucky lady. (I still say I will be a sister wife if it's okay with her!)

8) I am getting my first dog! I have put a deposit down on a male, first generation goldendoodle. I am getting it from a lady in Oregon and she will either arrange for him to be sent here or she will drive him down since she has family in the area. As of right now, he will be arriving somewhere between the end of September and the beginning of October. They look cute and cuddly, but the males get up to 65 lbs sometimes. I know I don't have a clue what I am getting myself into, but I think at this time in my life I need something new to keep me active and less of a homebody.

9) My daddy loves me! I hate to say this, but no man will ever replace the love I have for my dad! I was whining about missing Ohio and its sweet corn. I know that sounds weird, but I really miss sweet corn. It's not the same here in Utah. Corn on the cob here is more starchy and tough. SO, my daddy bought two dozen ears of corn, cooked it, cut the kernels off the cob, vacuum sealing it and sending it to me!!! Like I said, my daddy loves me!

10) Crystal and I are the concert addicts this month. James Taylor, Jack Johnson, and Sheryl Crowe with James Blunt. YEAH!!!

I warned you it was going to be long....I tried to cut it down, but you know me, I am not exactly someone who you have to pull teeth out of to chat!
